The evenings of the 8th edition of Village Celimontana, organized by the Cotton Club, return until September 7. A vast program that includes over 100 live concerts in the splendid setting of Villa Celimontana.
The event
The new edition of Village Celimontana is back. Until September 7, Villa Celimontana will host over 100 live concerts by great jazz and swing musicians, as well as Italian bands.
One of the most anticipated events is the Roman Classic Jazz Festival curated by Lino Patruno: an entire week dedicated to traditional jazz to remember its most important performers.
Every Monday the comedian and musician Claudio Gregori, aka “Greg”, will take the stage. On Tuesday, however, Swing Swing Swing will be held, an evening dedicated to Swing, Lindy hop, Charleston and Tip Tap. Finally, Sunday is for fans of 50s rock n roll with the event “Bevo solo rock’n’roll”. The last two evenings will be introduced by a free lesson on the first dance steps, offered by the best dance schools in Rome. Followed by a concert with all the dancers on the floor.
The event also includes two festivals. The Gipsy mini-Festival (homage to Django Reinhardt) takes us back to the ballrooms of Paris before the Second World War; while in Botequim de Maria (dedicated to Tom Jobim and Bossanova) the great interpreters of Brazilian music will perform.
There will be an international touch with the Afro jazz of the Kisito jazz Band, the manouche-style chanson française of Les Chats Noirs, the Norwegian jazz of Nina Perersen and the samba jazz of Jim Porto.
