Monet and the Impressionists – Digital Experience

The Next Museum in Rome hosts the exhibition Monet and the Impressionists – Digital experience from the 6th of September 2024 until the 31st of January 2025.

The exhibition

A multisensorial experience to discover Monet and the Impressionists awaits you at the Next Museum in Rome until 31 January 2025. Through the use of virtual reality, video mapping and artificial intelligence it will be possible to take a truly immersive journey into the works of Renoir, Monet, Degas and others.

Thanks to the help of the most advanced technologies, the paintings come to life, creating a one-of-a-kind show. Visitors will find themselves inside the works, whose images are projected on the walls and floors of the rooms.

The journey begins with the four seasons and focuses in particular on the technical and thematic aspects of Impressionism: from open-air painting to the use of color to capture the light of landscapes.

Virtual reality viewers together with artificial intelligence make the experience even more interactive, allowing you to grasp every single detail. The first screening of the exhibition is Impression, Sunrise by Claude Monet, the work from which the artistic movement took its name.

The exhibition, following an ideal year, continues with spring represented by Renoir’s Path leading through tall grass which then gives way to the summer colors of Monet’s Grainstack in the Sun, Morning Effect. We then move on to the autumnal scenes by Pissarro to conclude with the winter in Snow Effect in Louveciennes by Sisley.

The soundtrack inspired by Vivaldi‘s Four Seasons completes the experience, making the atmosphere truly unique.
