The exhibition
Flowers. Art from the Renaissance to Artificial Intelligence will be on display at the Chiostro del Bramante in Rome until September 14, 2025. Featuring over 90 works, the exhibition takes visitors on a journey through five centuries of creativity, innovation, and culture. The artworks, sourced from 10 different countries and prestigious institutions such as the Louvre, the Musée d’Orsay, the Petit Palais, and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, are presented alongside the botanical and scientific collections of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew in London, and the Museo Civico di Zoologia in Rome.
The exhibition explores the evocative power of flowers, weaving together art, science, and technology in a timeless narrative. The display combines works from the past and present, offering a fresh perspective on the role of flowers in the evolution of society and culture. Spanning from the 16th to the 21st century, the collection includes paintings, sculptures, manuscripts, tapestries, photographs, site-specific installations, and works incorporating augmented reality and artificial intelligence, all examining the deep connection between nature and art.
The Chiostro’s outdoor spaces will also be part of the event, transformed into an enchanted garden through an installation by Austin Young.
Two immersive sensory experiences—a garden installation and an olfactory journey—enhance the exhibition, accompanied by a dedicated podcast narrated by the Italian actor Alessandro Preziosi.
The exhibition serves as a manifesto for sustainability, encouraging reflection on the relationship between humans and nature. The works address urgent issues such as ecosystem adaptation, industrial impact, and species conservation, merging artistic ingenuity with a commitment to the future of our planet.
