From April 10th to October 20th, 2024, the MAXXI will host the exhibition “Ambienti 1956-2010 – Environments by Women Artists II,” dedicated to 19 immersive works by women artists from around the world.

The Exhibition

The MAXXI, the National Museum of 21st Century Arts, continues its project dedicated to immersive works at the intersection of art, architecture, and design with “Ambienti 1956-2010 – Environments by Women Artists II.” This project follows the exhibition “Other Spaces. Environments by Women Artists 1956–1976” held at Haus der Kunst in Munich.

This time, the works, which interact organically with their environment and the public, span from 1956 to 2010, the year the MAXXI museum, designed by Zaha Hadid, was completed.

The exhibition highlights the fundamental contribution of women to the history of this artistic expression through 19 immersive works from around the world, showcasing new technologies, surrounding space and audience interaction.

“More than meets the eye.”

The MAXXI, a new national museum center for contemporary art and architecture, was born from the project of Anglo-Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid, selected from worldwide entries.

The innovative structure, which integrates seamlessly into the urban fabric, was completed and opened in 2010, becoming a space to immerse oneself in, with directional flows, density distribution and light plays.
