The exhibition
Until July 27, the Museo Storico della Fanteria will host a great exhibition dedicated to Salvador Dalí, the most renowned figure of surrealism.
Around 80 pieces, including paintings, drawings, sculptures, ceramics, glassworks, engravings, lithographs, documents, books, and photographs from private Italian and French collections, illustrate the visionary universe of Salvador Dalí. A world free from the constraints of rules, where dreams become reality, and creativity knows no bounds.
This event not only celebrates Dalí’s extraordinary art but also showcases the European surrealist movement as a whole. It offers a comprehensive and captivating perspective on one of the most revolutionary artistic movements of the 20th century while highlighting its cultural significance. Exhibition is further enriched by works from other great surrealist figures, such as René Magritte, Max Ernst, and Giorgio de Chirico, as well as texts by prominent writers like André Breton, Jean Cocteau, and Louis Aragon.
The journey takes a chronological approach, starting with the artist’s early years and his encounters with key figures such as Federico García Lorca, represented with rare surrealist drawings, and Luis Buñuel, featured with excerpts from films that shaped Dalí’s creative path. These relationships played a pivotal role in shaping the destiny of one of the most iconic artists of the 20th century. The exhibition explores all stages of Dalí’s artistic production, culminating in his final works characterized by profound dreamlike symbolism.
