The certification
We are proud that 47 Boutique Hotel is the first hotel in Rome to get Green Globe membership, the world’s leading certification for sustainable operation and management of travel & tourism worldwide, which chooses its members according to internationally accepted criteria.
The recognition, received on May 15th 2023, certifies the commitment of our structure towards sustainable development, not only for the conservation of the environment but also for the positive impact on a social and economic level and the protection of cultural heritage.
Resources
One of the key aspects of good resources management for the environment is energy and water saving. The use of new ecological procedures and products, renewable energy and LED bulbs throughout the structure contribute to reducing the environmental impact, while energy saving devices, such as the air conditioning system and magnetic cards for rooms allow for greater optimization of consumption. Finally, the flow reducers for taps and the choice to equip almost all bathrooms with showers allow us to significantly limit water waste.
Saving does not mean reducing the efficiency of services but making the most of the resources available.
Plastic reduction
Another crucial step in supporting our sustainability project is eliminating single-use plastic. Therefore, we have chosen corn starch personal care accessories, recycled paper, biodegradable packaging and organic cotton gadgets. Our initiatives also include coffee compostable capsules by the Italian brand Vergnano, refillable dispensers of the award-winning Grown Alchemist organic courtesy line (recognized with the “Positive Luxury – Brand to Trust” award) and Filette aluminum water bottles that can be refilled using the dispensers available on-site.
47 Hortus
47 Hortus project
47 Hortus is a true self-production project and the concrete realization of our commitment to sustainable food choices. The 4-hectare property, featuring over 200 olive trees, vegetable gardens and greenhouses, is located within the Marturanum Regional Park in Tuscia and it is dedicated to producing organic olive oil and vegetables.
In November 2023, we completed our first harvest and produced a 100% Italian, cold-pressed organic extra virgin olive oil. This blend of Canino and Leccino olives gives a taste that is both pungent and delicate.
This allows us to bring a high-quality, homemade and completely sustainable product to the tables at 47 Circus Roof Garden.
Soon, we will also offer vegetables from our garden and greenhouses, grown and harvested according to seasonal cycles.
Food choices
Our commitment to the environment also concerns our food choices. We are committed to reducing any type of waste to a minimum and we mainly select 0 km seasonal products to support local producers, thus contributing to reducing CO2 emissions caused by goods transport and packaging. The fruit of Coldiretti agricultural association, Rome’s most historic meat and fish suppliers, the self-production of bread and focaccia, the biscuits of a young local entrepreneur. Each choice is designed to support the realities that surround us and ensure customers the best quality of ingredients.
Green program
Green Program is participation. With the implementation of this initiative, all staff are committed to preserving the green integrity of their department, limiting the excessive use of detergents, printed paper, water and energy. In this sense, there is nothing more important than the contribution of guests, who are invited to actively participate in the program. Choosing to change linen only when necessary, paying attention to the use of water, especially in summer and saving energy by removing the electronic key are small gestures that make the stay more sustainable and enrich the value of our green project.
Offering sustainable gadgets at the end of the stay is our way of encouraging guests and thanking anyone who wants to be an integral part of the change.
Sustainable mobility
The central location allows you to easily reach the main attractions of the city on foot or by public transport. We also promote sustainable mobility by offering a free bike rental service for guests, who can discover the beauties around us with no stress. Among the activities that can be booked in the structure, there are private walking tours with certified guides: another green and sustainable way to get to know Rome and its history.
SMP – Sustainability Management Plan
The sustainability management plan provides a complete survey of the environmental policies adopted in favor of a more sustainable tourism and indicates further development goals that we want to achieve in the green field.
